Spoken languages : français

The Notre-Dame basilica is a 19th-century cathedral, built between 1827 and 1866 by Father Haffreingue on the ruins of its predecessor, which was destroyed shortly after the French Revolution. It is a colossal complex with a dome that rises to 101 m in height and overlooks the whole city. Inside, the high altar of the Torlonia princes is a masterpiece of 19th-century Italian mosaic art. Its crypt is one of the largest in Europe.
