Carillon

Chimes (CAMBRAI)

The story of Martin and Martine, the automated bell-chimers of Cambrai, is the stuff of legend and rumour. What's for certain, though, is that they appeared around 1500 and that they've sometimes been made of wood, other times of metal. Now perched 36 metres up in the belfry of the town hall, they chime the hours accompanied by the 31 bells of the carillon.
