The archeological site of Bavay is the largest forum ever found in France with its entire layout intact. Speading across 2.5 hectares, the forum excavation has unearthed the vestiges of the capital city of the Nervii: Bagacum. The ramparts, still very impressive, give you a glimpse of a later era, when the forum became a fortress. A visit here throws you into the daily life of the Gall-Roman people and their activities, be they administrative, commercial or religious. A 3D film immerses the visitor in a simulation of the Roman Forum, entirely reconstituted in computer graphics, complete with the 600 objects found in the archeological excavations: ceramics, glassware, tools and ornaments. It's an incredible journey into the heart of the Roman Empire.
