Maison Natale Charles de Gaulle

Home of a famous person (LILLE)

Spoken languages : anglais

This family home, a typical bourgeois residence of no particular note, was acquired in 1872 by Jules Maillot the maternal grandfather of Charles de Gaulle. It is made up of two parts, the "little" and the "large" house, which communicate by means of a passage above the carriage door. Located in the former tulle factory that belonged to the general's grandfather, the "History Factory" has a multimedia resource centre, an audiovisual forum and an educational area for the younger public. In all of these, you'll find archives and documents related to Charles de Gaulle and the history of the 19th and 20th centuries.
