La Maison Commune is a traditional and yet modern pub located in a charming village at the heart of the Flanders hills. This "estaminet", set in a typical Flemish house, is neatly decorated, and not over-burdened with knick-knacks. Traditional cuisine is served, cooked from fresh local ingredients: carbonade, pot'je vleesch, homemade patés, chicken with Mont des Cats cheese, hot sandwich boards. Every month, the owners add a new local beer to the menu for you to sample. After your meal, you can go for a walk in the surrounding countryside and along the many hiking trails around here. Or go and visit the little museum devoted to the writer Marguerite Yourcenar, born in Flanders, just a stone's throw from the pub!
