The British Army’s rear base is established on the Coastline. The Supreme Headquarters are set up at Montreuil-sur-Mer.

Troops from across the Empire pass mainly through the ports of Boulogne and Etaples: Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, South Africans, Indians, amongst others.

Training camps and hospitals caring for the wounded from the Front are set up all along the coast. Soldiers travel from there to the different areas of the Front under British control: Flanders, Artois and the Somme.
