At Christmas time, the Capital of the North is ablaze with colours: the bright lights of the Christmas market, the fun-fair and big wheel which turns majestically above the Grand’Place. Browse around the Village de Noël with its 60 strolls offering regional specialities, crafts and gourmet treats. Then watch the world go by from a café terrace whilst supping a vin chaud or enjoy a ride on the “Grande Roue” and see the whole of Lille illuminated by fairytale lights.
An irresistible aroma of cinnamon and roasted chestnuts emanates from Place Rihour where, for over a month, the 80 chalets of the Christmas Market reside.
Here, merchants and craftspeople offer original and delightful gift ideas : gingerbread and other delicacies (to take away or to try on the spot with mulled wine), nativity figurines and Christmas decorations, traditional toys, German, Canadian and Polish specialities, and much more.
